Coloured Pencil on Paper, A4

She likes fluffy and cuddly things, music and art, being playful and joking around. She doesn´t care about responsibilities, working or cleaning. Instead, she indulges on just about everything that is coming to her mind. She is creative, emotional, loves to get attention for her cuteness, she is childish and selfish and likes to wear a bathrobe. Her favorite place is the drawing desk or the couch. She never cooks, but will devour everything in front of her, most likely sushi she had delivered.

Coloured Pencils on Paper, A4

This was the pencilsketch for the drawing.

I worked forever on the anatomy. I still didn´t get it right, but I still liked the drawing a lot. It was my first fully drawn coloured pencil drawing with background and everything. The shadows/ location of the light souce are off and so are the colors in the background (much to intense for background). Anyways I was quite proud of the result.

Sketch on Paper

So after almost 2 months of not drawing it was finally vacation time - I started learning about perspective and shadowing using youtube videos (30 days drawing challenge by Mark Kistler), my favourite youtube artists are: Mark Crilley, Baylee Jae and PaintingFoxes.

Learn how to draw in 1-Point Perspective and Learn how to draw in 2-Point Perspective (both videos from Mark Crilley)
Mainly I had to draw Rockets for my son...

Techniques on Forshortening
"Ellipses" and "Coils", and The lightning bolt technique
drawn with a youtube video from Sycra

So then I also started to read "Zeichne jeden Tag" from Veronica Lawlor to "broaden my horizon" and get to know new media. Most of them are quite fun and mostly I get weird results - but that is also due to so little time and not sketching
Day 1: The First Step: Stillife with Fineliner
Fineliner on Paper
I was supposed to just doodle what I saw and concentrate on the objects rather than on realism
Day 2: Butterflys and Roses
Pen and Ink on Paper
This one was about trying out ink and quill and getting to know the media

Day 4: Meryl Streep in Death Becomes Her
Coal on Paper
The task was to grab charcoal, turn on a movie and pause randomly, then draw the drozen person on the screen without sketching. Although I am still really bad at proportions I am still amused about the outcome of this one, hence it fulfilled its purpose ^_^

So then I bought a tiny sketchbook to sketch on playgrounds ^_^

May/June 2016

In May I decided to draw a series of chibis that would later be a gift for my best friends, who married the same month. Basically they depict our friends taking care of the kids, while my husband and I are totally spaced out.

This was the final piece! Its quality is kind of bad, because I made copies of the originals, then cut them out, glued them on the bigger paper, had to re-color them (on the bad copyshop paper) and then scan it again. So next time I am doing something like this I might do it in a less cumbersome way and have a better outcome ^_ ^

So then  my best frends were about to marry and I was full of ideas but had so little time. This was a W.I.P I also never finished, but wanted to mention here, since it made me look closer into the realistic display of fabric.

(This was the Piece of fabric I tried to copy )

These I did during work - we had one wonderfully boring afternoon at work, full of soap-opera drama and laughter :-)
(Actually I´ve promised to redraw it properly and give it to my collegue as a present)

So then I started reading "The Hyperrealism Challenge" by Mark Crilley - and here are the results. Unfortunately i got stuck at a very early stage due to the lack of popcorn, which I was supposed to draw...

So this was April ^_^

March 2016

So. In March I decided to pick up on drawing again. This time I just wanted to do the fun part and picked chibis (tiny and funny manga characters) as motives. So I started with inventing my family as chibis (with great disregard to proportions ^_^ )
That came with a great variation in outcome, some made me proud, some angry :-D

So then I started actually practicing. Some of the drawings were made watching tutorials from Mark Crilley or other youtubers, some were copied from "Manga erste Schritte Chibis" by Christopher Hart, some were just copies of random pictures on the internet.

And then I got to see artwork from Kanano Kuno, which inspired me to try out her style

So I think this was a month of great improvement, but it annoyed me more and more that I could not sketch or colour correctly, couldn´t use perspective and foreshortening and apply highlights and shadows correctly.
