Black Dragon

Ink on Paper, highlights with white chalk

So this was my first attempt of drawing a dragon. 

Initially I wanted this big dragon to be the background of the piece, and wanted to put a tiny dragon in the foreground. But then I couldnt decide on wether I want the tiny dragon to be the "baby" falling down, or if I want a differently colored dragon to be either his friend or his foe. So for now I will just leave it as it is.

Here is the original photo I used for the design. It was taken on a playground in Bulgaria.

So this was the first tackle at both charcoal and toned paper. I was quite nervous about smudging, as i experienced in a doodle before. But as I drew I liked it very much :-)

It took me about 3 hours to draw.

She is a Waternymph with a Mermaid-like Tail and she is bending her knees in front of her. The tail was supposed to look less rectangular, but  I had troubles with proportions again ^_^

She likes fluffy and cuddly things, music and art, being playful and joking around. She doesn´t care about responsibilities, working or cleaning. Instead, she indulges on just about everything that is coming to her mind. She is creative, emotional, loves to get attention for her cuteness, she is childish and selfish and likes to wear a bathrobe. Her favorite place is the drawing desk or the couch. She never cooks, but will devour everything in front of her, most likely sushi she had delivered.

This was the pencilsketch for the drawing.

I worked forever on the anatomy. I still didn´t get it right, but I still liked the drawing a lot. It was my first fully drawn coloured pencil drawing with background and everything. The shadows/ location of the light souce are off and so are the colors in the background (much to intense for background). Anyways I was quite proud of the result.
